Wednesday was a quieter day inside the apartment, but it ended with a massive highlight. We both worked from home, powering through our tasks for the school exchange directly from our laptops. It was a productive, focused day, which was perfect because I needed to save up my energy for later that night.
Here is how Day 18 went down:
1. Powering Through Remote Work
After the chaotic storm and district-wide blackout the night before, we were glad to have the electricity back and a warm, dry workspace. We spent the day getting things done for our projects, responding to emails, and coordinating with our host school coordinators. Working from the apartment let us work at our own pace and completely catch up on our responsibilities.
2. The 3 AM Airport Reunion
The real event of the day didn't happen until long after the sun went down. I had to stay awake until 3:00 AM to head out to Tbilisi International Airport.
The reason? My mother was flying into Georgia to visit! Landing in a foreign country in the middle of the night can be pretty overwhelming, so I wanted to make sure I was right there at the arrivals gate to welcome her. Seeing her walk out after staying up all night was amazing, and it's going to be so much fun showing her around our favorite spots in the city over the next few days.
Student to Student Tip: Tbilisi International Airport is open 24/7, and many European flights arrive at completely crazy times like 2:00 AM or 4:00 AM. If you have family visiting, apps like Bolt or Yandex make it super easy and safe to book a cheap taxi to or from the airport at literally any hour of the night.
