Thursday was a classic "head-down, get-to-work" kind of day. With our second week of the exchange drawing to a close, our teachers handed us a major responsibility for the following day: a school visit where we would be presenting to local students.
Here is how we spent our day gearing up for the event.
1. Prepping the Presentation
We spent almost the entire day researching, structuring, and polishing a presentation focused on IT jobs in Georgia. Since we are looking at things through the lens of international exchange, it was really interesting to dive into how the local tech scene is evolving.
We wanted to make sure the content was actually engaging for the students, so we spent a lot of time mapping out:
What the job market looks like here for young professionals.
Which tech stacks and roles (like development, data analysis, and system administration) are growing fastest in Tbilisi.
The similarities and differences between working in tech in Germany versus Georgia.
2. Getting Ready for the Audience
Public speaking in a foreign country can be a little intimidating, so we ran through our slides a few times to get the timing down. The goal was to make it insightful but accessible, giving the local students a realistic look at the field while sharing our own perspectives.
Once the presentation was fully ready and locked in, we called it a day and headed home to rest up.
Student to Student Tip: When you're preparing presentations for local schools here, keep your slides visual and easy to follow. The students are usually incredibly eager to hear about international experiences, so leaving plenty of room for a casual Q&A at the end is always a great strategy!
